In a significant gesture aimed at supporting Syria’s economic stabilization and recovery, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar have jointly announced financial assistance for public sector employees in the Syrian Arab Republic. The support will be provided over a three-month period, reflecting a renewed regional commitment to aiding the Syrian people amid ongoing economic challenges.
This initiative follows a previous joint contribution of approximately $15 million by the two Gulf nations to help Syria settle its outstanding arrears with the World Bank Group—demonstrating a broader effort to reintegrate Syria into global financial and development frameworks.
According to official statements, the latest financial support package is designed to alleviate humanitarian hardship, improve living standards, and strengthen economic and social stability across Syria. Both countries highlighted the longstanding historical and cultural ties with the Syrian people and reaffirmed their dedication to promoting peace and prosperity in the region.
Saudi Arabia and Qatar also called for greater coordination with the international community and development partners, aiming to build a clear and comprehensive strategy for sustainable economic support and inclusive development in Syria.
The move marks another step toward regional engagement with Syria’s reconstruction and could set a precedent for future multilateral cooperation on post-conflict recovery efforts.
