Forty civilians and eleven personnel of Pakistan’s armed forces were martyred in what the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) termed “unprovoked and reprehensible” attacks by India during a recent military escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
In a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the ISPR said that on the night of May 6 and 7, 2025, Indian armed forces launched indiscriminate strikes targeting innocent civilians, including women, children, and the elderly. The attacks resulted in the martyrdom of 40 civilians—among them seven women and fifteen children—while 121 others were injured, including ten women and twenty-seven children.
Pakistan’s armed forces mounted a strong and resolute military response under the operational umbrella of Marka-e-Haq, executing Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos to retaliate with precision strikes against Indian positions.
While defending the homeland with “exemplary valour,” eleven personnel of Pakistan’s armed forces embraced martyrdom and seventy-eight others were injured. The martyred servicemen included six members of the Pakistan Army and five from the Pakistan Air Force.

The statement emphasized that the nation remains united and resolute in the face of aggression. “Let there be no ambiguity: any attempt to challenge Pakistan’s sovereignty or territorial integrity shall be met with a swift, full-spectrum, and decisive response,” the military warned.
COAS Visits Injured at CMH Rawalpindi
A day earlier, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Rawalpindi to inquire after the well-being of wounded soldiers and civilians. He met each injured individual personally, commending their bravery and dedication.
“Our civilians’ and soldiers’ valour and sacrifice form the cornerstone of Pakistan’s security. The entire nation stands in resolute solidarity with every member of its Armed Forces,” the COAS remarked.
General Munir underscored that no hostile design can dent the determination of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He praised the coordinated national response witnessed during Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos as a defining moment in the country’s military history.
