ISLAMABAD: In a significant humanitarian gesture, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has signed a cooperation agreement with Syria to combat escalating forest fire risks in the Latakia Governorate.
The agreement, signed in the presence of Syrian Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed Alsaleh, will provide essential firefighting supplies, equipment, and machinery to strengthen Syria’s emergency response.
Focused on the town of Kassab in Latakia, the initiative aims to enhance the technical and logistical capabilities of Syria’s firefighting teams as the country braces for peak summer temperatures that often trigger wildfires. Dr. Ahmed Qazziz, Syria’s Deputy Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, welcomed the agreement, calling it a strategic move to upgrade civil defense readiness. He emphasized that the partnership not only includes equipment provision but also specialized training for firefighting personnel.
This cooperation reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian commitment to supporting nations in times of need. KSrelief continues to extend its assistance globally, with this latest initiative further solidifying the Kingdom’s role in aiding crisis-stricken populations and fostering regional cooperation in disaster management.
