The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) has announced the appointment of Abdullah Saleh Alshebeili as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Global Audit Committee Center, based in Washington, D.C.
Alshebeili, who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Authority of Internal Auditors and Secretary-General of the Arab Confederation of Internal Auditors, brings a distinguished record of leadership in advancing audit and governance standards across the region.
According to the IIA, Alshebeili’s appointment underscores the growing international recognition of Saudi Arabia’s achievements in audit and governance, reflecting the Kingdom’s success in developing professional expertise and promoting high standards in the internal audit field.
The IIA emphasized that the decision recognizes Alshebeili’s effective contributions to the development of its programs and his extensive experience in building and managing professional organizations on a regional level. It also highlights the Saudi Authority of Internal Auditors’ pivotal role in strengthening the internal audit profession, enhancing governance frameworks, and improving the quality of audit committee outputs.
The Global Audit Committee Center serves as a key international reference body for regulating audit committee operations and related legislation. It provides best practice guidance and resources to help audit committees perform their roles more effectively within corporate governance systems worldwide.
