The OIC General Secretariat has reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s efforts to protect Makkah, the Madinah region and other holy sites following attacks attributed to the Houthi group, warning against violations of their sanctity.
The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemned what it described as heinous attacks against Makkah and the Madinah region, as well as the continuing aggression against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to the OIC, the attacks have created fear among civilians, violated the sanctity of holy sites and mosques, and provoked the sentiments of Muslims across the world.
The organization said attacks against sacred places and civilian infrastructure were contrary to Islamic values and international norms, principles and law.
The OIC General Secretariat described attacks against holy sites, mosques and civilian infrastructure as acts of terrorism and stressed that any violation of the sanctity of these sites was an unacceptable transgression.
It called for the perpetrators to be deterred and for measures to be taken to prevent further attempts to target or infringe upon the holy sites.
The OIC reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and expressed support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to deter the attackers and preserve the sanctity of the holy sites.
The organization also backed Saudi Arabia’s efforts to protect the lives of Muslims, maintain its security and safeguard its sovereignty.
