ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, Pakistan and Turkiye solidified their bilateral relationship by signing a series of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) across various sectors, including media, cultural cooperation, defense, and trade.
Reportedly, the signing ceremony took place in Islamabad, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan witnessing the exchanges.
The Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage, and Culture, Attaullah Tarar, and Turkish Director of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, exchanged MoUs aimed at enhancing collaboration in public relations, communications, and media sectors. Additionally, agreements focusing on cultural cooperation and audiovisual services were signed between Minister Tarar and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
In total, 24 agreements and MoUs were exchanged, encompassing areas such as defense, energy, trade, health, and education. Notably, MoUs were signed to bolster cooperation in the defense sector, including the exchange of military and civilian personnel for social and cultural purposes, and collaboration in air force electronic warfare. Agreements were also made to enhance technical cooperation in health and pharmaceuticals, as well as cultural cooperation and co-production in audiovisual services.
These agreements underscore the commitment of both nations to deepen their strategic partnership and foster collaboration across diverse fields, reflecting the strong historical and cultural ties between Pakistan and Turkiye.
