Pakistan’s leading energy company, Cnergyico, has received its second shipment of US crude oil, strengthening the country’s energy trade links with the United States. The US oil tanker MT Albany carrying around one million barrels of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude has arrived within Pakistan’s maritime boundaries and will berth at Cnergyico’s oil terminal in Balochistan today.
This latest delivery follows the arrival of the first US crude cargo, MT Pegasus, which reached Pakistan on October 29 after sailing from Houston on September 14. Both shipments mark a significant development in Pakistan’s energy import strategy as the country diversifies its crude supply sources.
The twin shipments, totaling two million barrels, were imported by Cnergyico under a new bilateral trade agreement between Islamabad and Washington designed to boost energy cooperation and commercial engagement.
By the end of October 2025, Pakistan had received its first-ever consignment of US crude at Cnergyico’s Single Point Mooring (SPM) terminal, located along the Balochistan coast. Encouraged by the success of the initial cargo, the company deemed the transaction commercially viable and subsequently ordered a second shipment in September, highlighting a growing reliance on the US market for crude supplies.
Cnergyico’s management described the deal as a strategic move to diversify Pakistan’s crude oil imports and ensure long-term energy security. Industry analysts believe the company’s decision to expand imports from the United States demonstrates a shift toward broader energy partnerships, reducing dependence on a single source.
Previously, in 2023, Cnergyico made history by importing Pakistan’s first private-sector cargo of Russian crude oil, benefiting from discounted global prices. Its latest venture into American crude imports represents a continuation of its strategy to secure competitive and stable energy supplies from multiple international markets.
Experts view these developments as a positive signal for Pakistan’s petroleum sector, reflecting growing international confidence in its energy infrastructure and the potential for deeper trade and investment collaboration between Pakistan and the United States.
