ISLAMABAD: Consumers received fresh relief on Monday as the government reduced the ex-depot price of petrol by Rs4.08 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs2.45 per litre for August 4 under the revised daily petroleum pricing mechanism.
The Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) said OGRA had revised the prices in accordance with the federal government’s petroleum pricing framework.
Following the revision, the price of petrol has been brought down to Rs331.95 per litre from Rs336.03 per litre, while the price of HSD has been reduced to Rs389.93 per litre from Rs392.38 per litre.
The new rates will be applicable on August 4, superseding the prices notified on August 1.
Pakistan shifted to a revised daily petroleum pricing mechanism last month to enable more frequent adjustments in line with fluctuations in international oil prices and other pricing components.
Although the latest reduction is modest, it is expected to provide some relief to motorists and the transport sector, which has been grappling with elevated fuel costs.
