ISLAMABAD: The federal Ministry of Interior has asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to provide complete records of Afghan students studying in the province, as part of its broader effort to update its database of foreign nationals.
According to official sources, the Foreign Nationals Security Cell of the Interior Ministry has written a formal letter to the KP Home Secretary, requesting detailed data of all Afghan students currently enrolled in educational institutions across the province. The data is to be submitted by March 27.
The letter stated that the Foreign Nationals Security Cell is currently updating its centralized dashboard related to foreigners residing in Pakistan, necessitating timely input from provincial authorities.
This move comes as the federal government has directed all Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders to leave Pakistan by March 31. The Ministry of Interior had earlier announced that all undocumented foreign nationals must exit the country by the same date or face deportation starting April 1.
In recent months, Pakistan has intensified efforts to regulate the stay of foreign nationals, particularly undocumented Afghan citizens, citing security and legal concerns. The government has already repatriated thousands of Afghans since the crackdown began last year.
