Pakistan has completed the final assignment stage of its NGMS/5G spectrum auction, with the process generating $509.6 million (around PKR 142.6 billion) and clearing the way for telecom operators to begin planning and deploying 5G networks.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced that the assignment stage had been concluded, during which the exact frequency positions within the auctioned bands were finalized to facilitate efficient network deployment by telecom operators.
Under the finalized allocation, Jazz secured 70 MHz in the 2600 MHz band, while Zong and Ufone obtained 60 MHz each in the same band.
In the 3500 MHz band, Ufone acquired the largest block with 120 MHz, while Jazz and Zong secured 50 MHz each. A total of 60 MHz spectrum remained unsold in this band.
According to PTA, the overall 5G spectrum auction fetched $509.6 million, equivalent to about PKR 142.6 billion, strengthening government revenues while enabling telecom operators to expand next-generation mobile infrastructure.
Among the operators, Jazz secured spectrum worth $239.38 million, Ufone acquired $156.75 million, and Zong obtained $113.47 million.
With the assignment stage now completed, telecom companies can move ahead with network design, infrastructure development, and spectrum deployment to support the gradual introduction of 5G services across Pakistan.
The development represents a major step toward enhancing the country’s digital connectivity, improving broadband speeds, and enabling emerging technologies that rely on high-capacity mobile networks.
