ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is strategically positioned to emerge as a global mining powerhouse, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said on Tuesday at the inauguration of the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025 (PMIF25), according to state media Radio Pakistan.

The two-day forum, taking place at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, is being attended by around 300 foreign delegates. The event aims to present a unified framework to attract investment in Pakistan’s minerals and mining sector across the four provinces, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In his opening remarks, Deputy PM Dar highlighted Pakistan’s rich mineral wealth, including monumental reserves like Reko Diq, as well as deposits of rare earth elements, industrial minerals, non-metallics, and gemstones such as peridot and emerald.

“With this vast untapped mineral potential, Pakistan’s resource corridor is poised to reshape global supply chains and attract foreign direct investment,” Dar stated.

He added that the government is focused on the strategic development of the mining sector through progressive policy reforms and investor-centric initiatives, aiming to build a robust ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders.

“This investment forum provides a unique platform for stakeholders, partners and friendly countries to explore new prospects and build mutually beneficial partnerships,” Dar said.

Also speaking during a discussion session, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal said Pakistan was fast becoming a prime destination for mineral investment. “Our resources are potentially so high that these will definitely attract a lot of investment and interest from local and foreign companies,” he remarked.

The PMIF25 serves as a key platform for global stakeholders to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s emerging minerals sector and unlock its vast mineral potential.
