ISLAMABAD: The government has cut the petrol price by Rs1.65 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs0.88 per litre for September 19 to 21, providing a limited three-day reduction under the petroleum pricing mechanism.
According to Petroleum Division, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the federal government’s prevailing pricing mechanism.
The price of Motor Spirit (MS), commonly known as petrol, has been reduced from Rs390.79 to Rs389.14 per litre, reflecting a decrease of Rs1.65 per litre.
Similarly, the price of High Speed Diesel (HSD) has been reduced from Rs424.92 to Rs424.04 per litre, showing a decline of Rs0.88 per litre.
The Petroleum Division said the revised prices would be applicable for September 19 to September 21, 2026.
The latest reduction comes under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism, under which OGRA reviews petroleum product prices in accordance with relevant market factors.
According to the Petroleum Division, changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals contributed to the latest revision in petroleum product prices.
Under the revised rates, petrol will be available at Rs389.14 per litre, compared with Rs390.79 previously, while HSD will be priced at Rs424.04 per litre against Rs424.92.
The Petroleum Division said the revised prices would remain applicable for the specified three-day period, after which petroleum prices may be reviewed under the prevailing pricing mechanism.
