President Asif Ali Zardari visited Lisbon on Monday to offer his condolences to Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini following the death of his father, Prince Karim Aga Khan. Expressing heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, President Zardari mourned the loss of a “true friend” and “great philanthropist.”
He lauded the late Aga Khan’s significant contributions to Pakistan’s social and economic development, particularly in healthcare, education, community development, and poverty alleviation. “His visionary leadership improved the lives of people in Pakistan and other regions of the world,” President Zardari noted.
Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, passed away on February 4, 2025, in Lisbon at the age of 88. He was laid to rest in a private ceremony in Aswan, Egypt.
The President’s visit underscores the deep and enduring friendship between Pakistan and the Aga Khan family, as well as the lasting impact of Prince Karim Aga Khan’s legacy. He expressed hope that Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini would continue his father’s mission to serve humanity.
