Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan has achieved macroeconomic stability over the past year, attributing this success to the implementation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) program.

Addressing business leaders and investors, he highlighted improvements in key economic indicators, including a reduction in inflation to 2.4% in January and a decrease in the central bank’s policy rate to 12%. Additionally, exports have risen compared to the previous year, and foreign remittances have reached a record $3 billion.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of addressing ongoing economic challenges and outlined the government’s focus on sectors such as mining, information technology, and agriculture to drive future growth. He noted that Pakistan is collaborating with the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to develop its vast mineral resources, which have remained underutilized. In the information technology sector, efforts are underway to provide proper training to the youth, who comprise 60% of the population, to harness their potential for economic advancement. In agriculture, the government is sending 1,000 fresh graduates to China for training in modern farming techniques, aiming to enhance crop yields and promote value-added products.

While acknowledging the progress made, the Prime Minister stressed the need for continued dedication and teamwork to transform the economy and achieve sustainable growth. He assured that the government would incorporate suggestions from business leaders into its economic strategy to ensure inclusive development.
