Founder & CEO Universal Gas Distribution Company Pvt Ltd, Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha termed the US-Iran ceasefire a major diplomatic success for Pakistan, saying it not only elevated the country’s global standing but also triggered a $22 drop in oil prices, easing worldwide economic pressure.
Paracha congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar for what he described as a “monumental achievement” in facilitating the ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
He said Pakistan emerged as a key facilitator at a critical time when global economies were on the brink due to escalating geopolitical tensions, adding that the country’s proactive diplomatic role helped avert a wider economic fallout.
“We salute the visionary leadership and tireless diplomacy of our leaders, whose pivotal role in bridging the gap between nations has positioned Pakistan as a true foundation of global peace and stability,” Paracha stated.
Highlighting the economic impact, he noted that an immediate decline of around $22 in global oil prices has delivered billions of dollars in relief to the energy market, offering much-needed respite to economies grappling with inflationary pressures.
Paracha emphasized that the ceasefire is not merely a temporary de-escalation but a gateway to substantive future progress in global oil and gas trade. He said the development would help normalize international trade routes, reduce global inflation, and ease fiscal pressures.
He added that the breakthrough is expected to contribute to significant progress in Pakistan’s oil and gas sector as well as its broader economy, reinforcing stability in the energy market.
Referring to domestic developments, Paracha said that under the effective management of the prime minister, Pakistan successfully averted energy shortages despite global uncertainties.
He expressed optimism that in the next phase, the government would prioritize energy self-sufficiency by increasing domestic oil and gas production, curbing system losses, and securing new strategic agreements and supply arrangements.
Calling it a “moment of pride” for the country, Paracha said Pakistan’s role in promoting peace diplomacy has strengthened its global image as a responsible and influential player.
