Electricity consumers in Pakistan are likely to get up to 20 paisa per unit relief in June 2026 electricity bills as quarterly tariff reductions offset increases in monthly fuel cost adjustments.

The first-quarter adjustment is expected to reduce electricity rates by Rs1.93 per unit, while the April fuel cost adjustment reflects an increase of Rs1.73 per unit.

This offsetting effect has resulted in a near-neutral tariff impact for the June billing cycle, subject to final approval by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

The quarterly adjustment is estimated to generate around Rs65 billion in consumer relief over three months, reflecting improved efficiency in generation costs.

The April fuel adjustment was initially projected at Rs5 to Rs6 per unit due to global fuel price surges and RLNG supply constraints but was significantly reduced through system-level interventions.

Better fuel management, increased local gas utilization, and optimized generation planning helped contain the impact on end consumers.

Industry sources said that nearly Rs38 billion in potential additional burden was avoided through operational efficiencies.
